We begin today in Petra and end in the desert.  This is our third day of our extension in Jordan as part of the AmaWaterways Secrets of the Nile & Egypt.  Here's our first and second days if you want to catch up.

The Treasury of Petra.  This was actually a tomb, but originally people thought it contained great treasurers of ancient civilizations.

This is the second post from our Secrets of Egypt and the Nile trip.  Actually this is the second day of our pre-cruise excursion to Jordan.  You can catch up on our first day here.  

This is the first post about our trip to Egypt with Ama's Secrets of Egypt and the Nile cruise.  We decided to add Ama's pre-cruise extension to Jordan.  In fact we added an extra day in Amman even before the extension started - an extension to the extension.  That was a good decision.  Our flight landed at 9 pm local time and because we had a long layover in Frankfurt, total travel time was close to 24 hours.  Jordan is 7 time zones ahead of our normal east coast time zone.  We splurged on business class which made the trip very tolerable.  The key was access to the United / Lufthansa business class lounges which allowed us to shower and clean up in Germany before our 4 hour flight to Amman Lebanon.  The flight from Newark to Frankfurt was easy, given the excellent business class  seats on our 787. Still, it's a very long travel day.

In October 2022, we'll run our final Joe Sixpack beer themed trip.  

In a few weeks, in mid March we leave for our first trip to the Middle East. We're off to Jordan and then Egypt including Cairo and the lower Nile River.  We can't wait.  We'll be sure to share that experience here on this blog.

It's been a while since our last blog post.  Why?  Frankly, the travel world was a bit depressing during COVID.  Not things I want to dwell on.  But it seems we're entering a period where we can actually talk about travel again. And more importantly, we can actually travel to real places. So let's get back up to speed with river and ocean cruising.

We've already planned where we'll be New Year's day 2024!  Sounds crazy but if you want to be on a river cruise in Europe, you have to think ahead.  And that's what we've done.  So if you want to travel with a travel agent and celebrate New Year's in a unique way, check out the trip we have planned.
